The Blooming Bracelet Crochet Kit is Now Available!

We launched our eWoodStory line last summer with the Nouveau Necklace Kit and Mini Masterpiece Pendants. We thought the next kit should be a unique and fun to crochet bracelet. It can be crocheted in about an hour. A quick and satisfying project that is sure to be a conversation piece when you wear it. It is great for spring and summer crocheting, and would make a lovely gift!

The kits are for sale in our Etsy shop, and at The Sadu House and Needles and Yarn shop in Kuwait. They are available in 6 different yarn colors with coordinating engraved exotic wood flowers to slide on the flower centers.

There are written instructions for three different sizes, and enough yarn included to make any of the sizes. The kit also comes with a full stitch diagram. Kits sold in the Middle East also include instructions in Arabic.

The eWoodStory Featured Artists Series

We are excited about all of the possible uses for our eWoodStory Mini Masterpiece frames, and we wanted to do something to celebrate them. We have started a Featured Artists Series on our Instagram account. We are constantly on the lookout for artists who work in different mediums to create pieces for us to share and inspire others. We feature their work, along with a bio that helps us take a closer look at how they work and how they came to be artists. It is a nice way for more people to discover the work of different artists. So far we have featured works in freeform crochet, hand embroidery, free motion embroidery, and needle felting. There are also more pieces in the works, in different mediums, coming soon. It is so much fun seeing the frames come to life with beautiful creations. The artists have used them to make necklace pendants, ornaments, and key chain fobs. If you would like to see the artists frames that we have featured so far, we have started a flickr gallery just for the series. It will be updated whenever we receive a new piece. If you click on a photo, you will be able to see the bio of each artist in the comments section.

It is our greatest hope that these pieces will connect people, and inspire more Mini Masterpieces to be made!

If you would like to see more completed frames visit our main flickr gallery, and visit our Etsy shop to see the frames we have available.

A True Tale of a Crochet Designer: The Book That Almost Was...

Today I have a little story to tell about what could have been my second book! Shortly after finishing Crocheting Clothes Kids Love, I got an email that was the kind of email I dream of getting! It was from an editor who asked me to be the curator of the first in a new series of Crochet Books they were hoping to produce. It was to be 30 quick projects with a heart theme. I would get to choose the designers and designs, and contribute my own designs as well, and get to decide what exactly would be included in the book. I was really excited about the idea, as I love scouting for talent, and since I used to be an art department director, I felt this was a great fit for me! I put together a list of designers, and the editor contacted them to ask who would be interested in submitting. I was thrilled that the majority of the designers that we asked said yes, so we moved onto the next stage, which was to create a small portion of the book, and the book cover, so it could be presented at international book fairs to see if any publishers were interested in the book. There was some interest, but unfortunately no one agreed to publish the book, so the project was scrapped.

The company I was working with gave me permission to share some of the photos of the book mock-up, here on my blog. Seeing the cover was such fun for me, and I love the necklace I designed for the book, so I am happy that I can at least share the photos with you! The free heart ring pattern I released before Valentines Day, was one of the designs I had worked up for the book. That pattern wasn't in the mock-up, so I was able to publish it on my own.

As one door closes another door of opportunity opens. Hopefully the next time I share a book cover with you, it will be a true reality!

Stitch Story Blog Feature!

I was really thrilled when Inside crochet contacted me to do an interview for the "Blog We Love" feature in this month's Inside Crochet Magazine. It is really gratifying to be recognized for what you do! I hope to write many more blog posts that will keep you coming back :-)
