We just got tickets for our annual summer trip to Oregon, and I am filling in my calendar! First up June 29th-July 1st, is the Black Sheep Gathering that will be in a new location, Albany, this year. I will really miss it being in my hometown of Eugene, but the organizers are promising that this will enable them to be bigger and better, so I am looking forward to the experience! Every year I learn so much at the Black Sheep Gathering, and I feel so fortunate that it is in Oregon in the summer. Soon the class registration will open, and it so happens that 3 of the classes that I would like to take, are offered on the same day at the same time! I am seriously considering buying a spinning wheel this year, as I am fascinated with making art yarns. This decision will sway which way I go when choosing classes. Last year I felt like I was the only one who didn't know how to spin on a spinning wheel, so maybe it is time to change that!
The second event I plan to attend is the Crochet Guild of America's Chain Link Conference that will be in Portland, Oregon this year!!! I couldn't believe it when I heard the news! I haven't been able to attend the past 2 years, and I have really missed it! I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new friends, as well as taking some interesting classes there too. If you have never been to a Chain Link Conference, and can get yourself to Portland, check out the class list this year! So many wonderful things to learn from talented instructors. Another great thing about the conference is the Design Competition, open to members of the guild. As a former winner of the competition (for the Kyoto Coat), it is a conference highlight for me to visit the display!
What are your fiber plans this summer? I hope our paths will cross at either the Black Sheep Gathering, or at the CGOA conference! Bring on summer!
